Our flight for London left late this afternoon, so before that we were able to walk around and catch a few more of the sights in Amsterdam. After feuling up on a Pannenkoeken - David had a pizza/cheese one, and I had chocolate and whipped cream (calories don't count on vacation) - we spent a couple of hours at the Amsterdam National Museum. Interesting, but after about 100 paintings of ships, we were ready to move on to something better.
Next we tried to go to the Anne Frank House, but we planned it poorly and we didn't have time to wait in the extraordinarily long line to get in. Here's a shot of the Anne Frank statue outside, though I'm sure it doesn't have quite the same impact as being inside the actual house:
Here's the closest we to to the Anne Frank House, the entrance sign at the front door:
We also didn't have time to make our way across town to see the Van Gogh museum, so instead we parked ourselves at a cafe and people watched for a bit before heading back to catch our plane to London.
I'd have to say that our first impression of London was... not good. We got eyerolls from the lady at the ticket counter when we asked for more help on how to navigate the train system, we couldn't find the escalator so we had to lug our luggage up and down several flights of stairs in the dirty train station (bless Singapore and their $1000 fines for no littering), and we had the crabbiest cab driver I've ever had, and that's not even holding the fact against him that he had no idea where our hotel was and drove in circles.
Tomorrow was going to be a long day of running around London ("Big Ben kids! Parliment!"), and I dragged by completely jet-lagged self to bed.
